Good prep?

This bed was free of grass when I planted my watermelon… or so I thought. I hate bermuda. It’s the most invasive weed I fight.

Of course looking at this pictures it seems I might need to do more fighting. 🙂

Drying some goodness

These nice little bulbs are getting ready to be braided. They’ve been put out to dry. I love home grown garlic

I think these have a chance

The pests have been dealt with for the most part. I pulled one from a hole that was secured in one of my own traps and two from my neighbors yard who fell victim to a pest company’s poison. Yes, I think these beauties stand a chance. If the weather holds for a couple of weeks we may get some toms finally. 🙂

All girls, no boys

So far my squash are strongly tending toward the female. No male flowers yet and no neighbors with squash for cross pollinization so… no fruit yet. The flowers are very pretty though. No squash bugs noticed yet. Plants are looking good. Harvesting garlic too.

Hopeful

Will this be the first pepper of the season? I hope so. I can taste the spicy pickled peppers that my family loves now. Hopefully this one and others will mature to something edible. We’ve had some poaching of first fruits this season. A squirrel. A gopher. Maybe other things. Hard to say. I’ve got measures in place to take out the pests but so far I have not been successful. Lord, please bless the garden, that it may bring forth fruit for my family.
